Happy Birthday BeMo!

July 6th 2012 marks BeMo’s 2nd anniversary – It is just amazing to see how much the company has evolved since its debut 2 years ago!

                

Our web traffic is the highest it has ever been, our business’ reach and customers are truly globally based, our product portfolio is diversified (as listed below)

Project Server 2010 made easy by BeMo- Review by Project MVP Gerard Ducouret

Tempted by hosted solutions, we tested BeMo Cloud hosted Microsoft Project Server by BeMo. BeMo was founded by two former Microsoft employees: Joël Lachance and Bruno Lecoq. Joël Lachance is francophone, which will reassure some French decision makers :)

BeMo Cloud is a solution delivering Microsoft Project Server 2010 hosted on shared servers (Multi-tenant). This offering is ideal for 1 to 100 users (and can be deployed in less than 30 minutes). The package we tested included the following features:

  • High availability
  • Project Server 2010 Business Intelligence (BI)
  • 1 GB of data storage per user.

We were particularly interested by the response time. They are quite satisfactory. For the Project Server functions that are not required for Business Intelligence, we found the response time similar to those of an ‘in-house’ deployment. For Business intelligence functions which involve Remote Desktop Services (formerly Terminal Services), the response time was slightly longer, but remain quite good for you to still have a good experience with the product. We appreciated the responsiveness of the BeMo technical support because the setting of everything that revolves around BI is not very straight forward; workaround were always provided within few hours after the submission of the problem.

With BeMo hosted solutions, complication normally associated with setup and maintenances are now things of the past.

We also tested the access to our database through the BeMo Lite application running on an iPad 2. It is extremely handy and allows easy monitoring of the tasks progress via your iPad. There is not yet the management of the time sheets, but this feature is promised (at the date of December 15, 2011) for the coming weeks.

We believe this solution offered by BeMo can significantly interest small and medium-sized businesses which do not have the financial means to finance an IT department.

Project Server 2010 Mobile Apps Roadmap status

Here is a quick update to our Project Server 2010 mobile applications roadmap (Android, iPhone, and Windows Phone) from BeMo and FluentPro.

  • iPhone (update to v1.2), which will offer timesheet functionality right from your iPhone  – ETA end of December – Will update this post once final release date to known.
  • Windows Phone (Version 1) – We had to cancel Windows 7 development due to no NTLM support in platform – http://forums.create.msdn.com/forums/p/88196/529789.aspx. Let’s see future releases of WP7. Microsoft, please enable NTLM support in your future version!!!
  • Android (Version 1) is in development, ETA end of December – Will update this post once final release date to known

An update to BeMo Lite for iPhone to be released in the coming days

Today, one customer reported the following issue with her BeMo Lite for iPhone v1.0

The error reported was:

The Dev team was able to reproduce the issue and just released a fix. Once Apple approves the updated version (can take up to 3 business days), every BeMo Lite for iPhone users will be get their application updated with this latest fix (v1.1)

After weeks of testing, BeMo is happy to announce that our new BeMo
Project App for iPhone release date has been set to July 5. With this
application, you will be able to connect to any Microsoft Project Server 2010
instance and have access to your individual tasks and milestones, update them
via your iPhone and synchronize automatically and securely to your server
instance.

We want to thank all our beta testers for their feedback to make our version 1.0 better. Now looking forward to ship it and get customers feedback that we will look into implementing for our V1.1 release . We truly hope our BeMo iPhone App will become your perfect Microsoft Project Server 2010 companion!

Our plan is to now develop it for Android and Windows Phone 7 OS!
